Modes of transport to Cozumel
So another adventure begins. We (Bubba, Judy, Lynne and I) have started yet another trip together. We are on our way to Cozumel, Mexico. It's supposed to be warm. Why does that matter? Well, right now it is 18 degrees at home, it's still January, so that means we have a lot more winter to trudge through. This is a well needed break from the almost heart stopping cold. The day started at 3:45 this morning when my alarm clock went off. I don't think I even hit REM sleep since I only went to bed three hours prior... Yuck! Anyway, off to Atlanta we went. That was nice and uneventful, then the fun started. Gate to gate to lunch ($30 for 2) to gate again, and finally we're ON! Yay, except we were told to "take any empty seats" I hate that. Judy found a seat, Lynne found a seat and Bubba and I were staring into a sea of unfriendly faces and seeing only one empty seat. Really? So the flight attendant and agent called us forward, I thought we were leaving and I was trying to remember where my overhead bag was, when the agent pointed at 1A... Whew! What a close one! I feel bad because by all rules, Lynne should be in first, or the 20+ people on the upgrade list! but instead it was Bubba and I. It's only a 2 hour flight, so it's not like we were going to tokyo :) After the plane ride, it was on to a bus to Playa del Carmen, that was $13 each and about an hour.... It wasn't a bad ride, lots of room and fairly comfortable. It was about three blocks to the ferry, which was another $13 each. That certainly was an adventure. I don't know if I've ever been on a boat that rocked as much as this one. There was a women who's job was pretty much to be on nausea alert - fun! After a $6 cab ride, we finally made it to the hotel. Of course, we didn't have reservations since we didn't know where we'd end up, so when we asked about the price, we were told it was about double what the other nights ran us. We were advised to try to book it through the original source and we were given the wifi access code. It finally worked and we booked the rooms for the original rate - yay! We didn't do the all inclusive option, which I'm kind of glad about, mainly because the restaurants all seem to be buffets... Not my idea of eating. ok, I'm too tired to keep my eyes open....
