Puerto Rico, here we come!
I don't remeber exactly why we picked Puerto Rico for this trip, but so far it was a good choice. We got on the first flights we tried, we fly standby with my job, and got here in time for lunch Saturday afternoon. The one disapointment we've run into was with the car rental. We rented from EZ, which we do frequently in Florida, but this was horrible. We waited over 1/2 an hour for the shuttle bus, even though the office was under 10 minutes away, then in the office it took over two hours to get through the line. It didn't even look very busy. On top of all that we were bullied into taking the transponder for the tolls which was another $50. The agent told us that if we didn't activate it and even if we paid the tolls in cash we would still get billed for using the toll booth and at that point it would be at least $50 for each infraction! Really??? It sounded like a BS story to me, but we took it anyway. I have to send a nasty-gram to EZ to let them know how disappointed I was with the treatment. From there we came to the timeshare in Dorado. We got a two bedroom because our nephew is joining us for his high school graduation present. The place is really nice. It's called the Hyatt Hacienda del Mar. It's right on the ocean, there's a huge pool and a couple of hot tubs. It has a restaurant, that we haven't tried yet, volley ball, tennis, and some other activities. The only thing I think they should have is some music or some kind of entertainment by the pool at night, but other than that it is great. It's the first week of June and it is hot, hot, HOT! We picked Bill up at the airport today and went to Old San Juan. Parking was ok, we parked in an underground garage near the Castillo San Felipe del Moro. We had to leave the keys, and the car was moved a few times, but we saw the fort, walked around a bit and ate, and the parking was only $5.50. I'm not sure how long we were there. The fort was interesting, over 400 years old, but man it was HOT! We came back to the resort, had a swim, and now it's bedtime. Until the next installment......
