Las Vegas





Yes, it has been another expensive trip to the glass show. I have no other vices, so I'm not that concerned about it. Right now I am sitting in the lobby of the South Point Casino because it is the only place with free wifi, Bubba is off desperately trying to loose his money... I bet he is doing an excellent job at that! The hotel is nice, lots of locals, but it's relatively cheap and clean so I won't complain. We should have paid the extra $25 and I could be napping right now instead of nodding off in this chair! Oh well, it was $25 more that I could spend on glass. We are looking at a new kiln. Something a little bigger and that has automatic settings. We'll investigate more when we get home. Speaking of which, I have another 3 and 1/2 hours until we go to the airport... Oh well!

Puerto Rico, here we come!

I don't remeber exactly why we picked Puerto Rico for this trip, but so far it was a good choice. We got on the first flights we tried, we fly standby with my job, and got here in time for lunch Saturday afternoon. The one disapointment we've run into was with the car rental. We rented from EZ, which we do frequently in Florida, but this was horrible. We waited over 1/2 an hour for the shuttle bus, even though the office was under 10 minutes away, then in the office it took over two hours to get through the line. It didn't even look very busy. On top of all that we were bullied into taking the transponder for the tolls which was another $50. The agent told us that if we didn't activate it and even if we paid the tolls in cash we would still get billed for using the toll booth and at that point it would be at least $50 for each infraction! Really??? It sounded like a BS story to me, but we took it anyway. I have to send a nasty-gram to EZ to let them know how ...

Our last day in Dorado before flying

Bill was leaving at night, so we decided to stay at the resort for the day. There is a nice beach and we started there. The water was warm enough and there was plenty of shade and chairs. There's a small part off to the right that is more sheltered and has some rocks. We decided to snorkel there, and what a good decision. There were plenty of fish, a lobster and even a very cool crab. It was a lot of fun. There are a LOT of black spiny urchins, so you really have to be careful where you step. We ate at the restaurant at the resort, and that was really good too. All good things must come to an end, so we had to bring Bill to the airport. It was about a 45 minute drive with plenty of traffic, but we got there and got him through the check point. We even remembered the USDA check point. We were leaving the next day, so we went back to pack. Next morning it was off to EZ to return the car. The start of something new

We are in Costa Rica again, the something new is that we brought our niece this time.  Happy Graduation Samantha!  We went around North America to get here, but the flights looked great and that is what's important sometimes with a buddy pass.  We flew to LAX then to LIR. 14 hours later, and it's hot and humid, it must be Costa Rica during rainy season. The flight got us in very early, and right now, it's only 4 pm and we've already packed in a full day and a nap! Our room wasn't ready yet, we're staying 3 nights at Los almendros del ocatal.  We were here about 6 hours prior to check in time, so it wasn't surprising that the room wasn't ready.  They suggested breakfast, the it would be ready when we returned.  Breakfast was ok, not my favorite meal, but we spent it with two parrots and a large blue jay type bird, then back to the hotel.  This place is definately on the radar to return.  We are up the hill from the beach, I'm actually listening to ...
