Saturday on the Cape

Image
I do like the Cape off season, but it is cold! That must be one of the reasons there are less people.  We went to the Sandwich Glass Museum in, you guessed it, Sandwich. It's a cool museum.  They had a glass blowing demo and Bubba even got to press a piece of glass.  They also had a marble exhibit going on... Very cool.  We played a game of marbles, I lost. I guess I'm not much of an athlete! We found a boardwalk in Sandwich with the help of someone at the museum.  Nice place, but the beach was closed to restore sand dunes, interesting. From there we had a very late lunch at o'shea's.  Great food and even better music.  There were even a couple of young girls practicing their step dancing routines.  Next we drove to Orleans to watch the sun set.  Did I mention it was cold? Cold and the beach don't always mix well for me, but the sunset was spectacular!  We're home now and waiting to see how much snow we get on the second day of spring......

Oh, the life of a non rev

This weekend started months ago with our plans to go to Iceland.  We had hotels, a car and plans of grandeur.  Well as plans go, it fell apart; not once, but twice.  Since we fly standby, I diligently watched the passenger loads and we decided about a week ago to switch gears and go to Orlando, our regular back up.  Well plan two fell through with the threat of a snow storm with the potential of up to a foot looming in the future.  Damn, here we go again. So here I sit in a hotel room on Cape Cod.  Yes, it's cold and no, I don't like the cold.  I have to admit today wasn't too bad.  We went to the Cape Cod potato chip factory, then to the Cape Cod brewery.  We found out the brewery was having a party later on, so we went back.  That was pretty cool.  They had live music and food, most of which was made with their beers.  It was fun even though we definately felt like outsiders.  It felt like walking into Cheers, where ever...
