Barbados

Again we started the day not really knowing what we wanted to do, but we had read about George Washington's House and thought that might be interesting. We went out for the day with Judy and Ben and got our own taxi tour.  It was nice that it was just the four of us, but the driver/tour guide was hard to understand.  He tried his hardest though.  It was $25 each and we ended at Washington's house.  It was a nice take.  He lived on Barbados for a few months when he was 19 and was trying to find a cure for his older 1/2 brother's TB. There are tunnels underneath the compound that were installed long after Washington's stay.  They were built for drainage and only rediscovered 5 years ago. It was an interesting tour.  Today is our last day and it's a day at sea.  I'm tired and I miss my dogs, but it's snowing right now at home, so I guess 80 degree weather is pretty nice. Let's see if we get on a plane tomorrow.

Dominica

It amazes me that we can be on an island one day that is going through a drought and then go someplace like Dominica where everything grows and in abundance.  It's a beautiful place covered by lush rainforests and tons of vegetation.  We took a taxi tour for $20 each to the Trafalgar Falls.  There are a ton of stairs to get to it, but it is pretty once there.  We also went to the botanical gardens, very pretty, but small.  Our tour guide was great and she seemed to enjoy her job, that always helps.  Ok, beddy bye time.

It's my birthday and St Maartin

Sunny and 84 degrees, that's the way to spend a birthday in February.  It was a great day even though Bubba forgot it was my birthday AGAIN this year.  That's ok, he made up for it with a Philip Stein bracelet.  It's supposed to do something to balance electrical waves or something like that.  It's pretty and purple oooohhhh!  Well, we really didn't do much today.  We got up late and roamed around the stores and there are a lot of stores.  The jewelry store where Bubba bought my bracelet had wifi, so we looked like junkies hanging out and trying to get and send all our messages.  And of course I had to upload my blogs.  The wifi was too slow, so we found a bar on the beach.  It was much faster there, and the fries and chicken wings were excellent! And Bubba drank a bucket of alcohol.  Over all, it was a good birthday.   Off to Dominica tomorrow and again we have no plans. We'd like to see the falls, but as usual we are just goi...

Ok, it's Monday

As they say, time flies when you are having fun.  Today we were in St Kitts.  We started the day with no idea what we wanted to do, but I saw something about a fort, the brimstone hill national park. It is an unesco world heritage site. That's what we decided to check out.  Our thought was to take a taxi out to it as long as it wasn't outrageously expensive.  What we found was a tour of the whole island including the fort for $20 each plus admissions. The fort was $10 each.  It is a beautiful place. It's very clean, well kept and interesting. The scenery was beautiful in every direction.  The tour was fun, but it's bed time.... And happy birthday to me!  It just turned into the 2nd, and I just turned 49, yikes! Who would have thought!

Maybe we should start at the beginning

Or maybe not.... Our latest trip started Friday when we flew from Boston through JFK to San Juan.  We stayed at the airport hotel.  Certainly not the best hotel in the world, not even close, but it is convenient... You can walk there from the terminal.  We took a taxi to get something to eat.  An employee at the hotel recommended metropol and it was great, Cuban and Puerto Rican food.  Saturday we got up, had breakfast and headed for our adventure.  Literally, we're on Adventure of the Seas.  We got on board about 12:00. We've been on the ship before, so we just walked around a little before we ate, of course, and found a bar.  There is something to do pretty much every minute of the day, but sometimes you just need to relax and take a nap ;).   It's Sunday night and today was Jimmy's birthday.  I saw him for a few minutes at breakfast and then again at supper.  Bubba had the waiters sing to him.  Anyway, Jimmy's birthday aside...
