Rocket frog divers
Today we went on a two tank afternoon dive with Rocket Frog Divers. Another great day, although I suppose just about any day in Costa Rica is a great day. Scott was our dive master, and I think the other dive master's name was David, but I'm so bad with names it could have been anything. On the first dive, I had a hard time with my buoyancy, I was way too buoyant and was having a rough time getting under the water. Scott came to my rescue with extra weight for my belt and a helping hand to get me to the bottom. It was about a 60' dive where we saw lots of fish, a couple of schools even, which is pretty spectacular and five white tip fin sharks. They were just chilling about 10 feet away from us. While we were watching them, a huge turtle swam between us and them, which was a spectacular sight. On the way up we say ray swim by. Dive two followed a harrowing boat ride through very rough water, I think Bubba's seasickness was coming in to haunt him. This one was around the side of a small island. We still saw schools of fish, but also a lot of star fish and eels, and even one octopus. Even after hanging with the Sharks, I still find the turtles to be the most mesmerizing. The ride back to the beach was short, so it wasn't too bad, but Bubba did get sick. We kind of skipped our safety stop, really not on purpose. I was like an escaping balloon through most of the dive and Bubba was trying to keep hold of me, so I think I dragged the two of us up to the surface too quickly. I think his nausea came from a combo of not enough food and no Dramamine - note to self, remember it the next time! Tracey snorkelled while we were under, and I think she had fun too, at least I hope so. They did administer oxygen to Bubba at the dive shop, but he's still kicking! It was still a great dive, and they let us take our gear off in the water, which always makes me happy, man that stuff is heavy when you're above water! Time for bed, and only one more day here :(
